The Charming Tote Bag (two sessions)

This is the ideal class for sewists that want to learn the basics of accessory sewing. The Big Tote Bag gives you a practical way to learn basic sewing techniques and pattern fundamentals at the same time.  Prerequisite: Bring your machine, power cord, foot/floor pedal, all-purpose presser foot, one wound/filled bobbin with a spool of thread matching your fabric, a small pair of thread snipping scissors, sharp fabric scissors, pincushion with straight pins, and your instruction book. Must know how to operate and troubleshoot your machine.  The Big Tote Bag pattern is provided in class.

Materials Required:

• 36 5" squares of quilting cotton or 1 charm pack
• 1 piece of coordinating fabric 10" x 20"
• 2 yards coordinating fabric for lining
• 2.5 yards fusible foam (20") Pellon FF78F1
• 1 yard fusible fleece (42") Pellon 987F
• 1 yard fusible interfacing Pellon FF911 or 931TD
• Coordinating thread

Fusible fleece and fusible foam are available at Walmart or Hobby Lobby or online. Pellon 931TD is available at Ashby, along with a selection of charm packs and quilting cottons.

Fabric for the project may be purchased at Ashby with a 20% discount.
