We want you to be happy with your purchase from Ashby Sewing. If something is not right, this policy explains when and how you can return or exchange items.
Eligibility for returns
Unless marked as final sale, most unused items in original condition and packaging can be returned.
To be eligible:
- Items must be unused, unwashed, and in resalable condition.
- Items must be returned with original packaging, labels, and any accessories included.
- A valid proof of purchase from ashbysewing.com is required, such as your order confirmation email or order number.
Items that cannot be returned
Because of the nature of sewing and craft items, the following are not eligible for return, refund, or exchange except where required by law:
- All Machine Sales are Final
- Cut fabric by the yard or custom cut lengths
- Custom orders or specially made items
- Patterns, books, and digital downloads
- Clearance or final sale items (these will be clearly marked at the time of purchase)
- Items that show signs of use, wear, damage, or strong odors such as smoke or perfume
If you are unsure whether an item is returnable, please contact us before placing your order.
Return window
You may request a return within 30 days of the delivery date shown by the carrier tracking.
Requests made after 30 days may not be accepted.
How to start a return
To start a return:
- Email sales@ashbysewing.com with your name, order number, and the item you would like to return.
- We will review your request and let you know if it is approved or not eligible under this policy.
- If approved, we will provide return instructions and the return address. In some cases, we may provide a prepaid return label.
Please do not send items back without contacting us first, as this may delay processing.
Return shipping costs
- If the return is due to our error (for example an incorrect item, or an item that arrives damaged), we will cover reasonable return shipping costs or provide a prepaid return label.
- If the return is for any other reason (for example you change your mind, order the wrong item, or no longer want the product), you are responsible for return shipping costs. These costs are not refundable.
Original shipping charges paid at checkout are not refundable, except where required by law.
Refunds
Once we receive and inspect your return:
- We will notify you by email that we have received your item and whether your refund is approved.
- Approved refunds will be issued to the original method of payment within 7 to 10 business days.
- Your bank or card issuer may take additional time to post the refund to your account.
If the returned item is not in its original condition, or is missing parts or packaging, a partial refund or store credit may be issued instead.
Exchanges
If you would like to exchange an item:
- Email sales@ashbysewing.com with your order number and the item you would like to exchange.
- In many cases, we will ask you to return the original item under this policy and place a new order for the item you want.
- When the returned item is received and inspected, we will process a refund according to the terms above.
Defective or incorrect items
If you receive a defective, damaged, or incorrect item, please contact us within 7 days of delivery:
- Email sales@ashbysewing.com with your order number, a description of the issue, and clear photos if possible.
We will review your message and, if approved, offer a replacement, exchange, or refund at no additional cost to you.
